Wojtek Kowalczyk

Wojtek Kowalczyk was born in 1960 in Krakow, Poland. He received his Master’s degree in Architecture at the Krakow University of Technology in 1986. Shortly after his studies he decided to pursue a career of an artist. Metaphor, surrealism, precision of detail, perfection of line and narrative are the most distinguishable features of his artistic style. His works, which frequently come in thematic series, are often rooted in mythology and literature. In his over 30-year long artistic career Wojtek Kowalczyk has been involved in various projects including artistic documentation of unique interiors of a historic salt mine. He has been an active member of a group of Polish and German artists who build bridges of partnership and friendship between nations while realizing thematic projects, exhibits and exchange programs. His cooperation with magazines in the years 1994-2010 resulted in publication of more than 800 drawings and cartoons. His drawings are on the cover of dozens of poetry collections. He is the author of a number of albums and books featuring architecture, works of art, and natural environment of regions and places in southern Poland. He participated in solo and group exhibitions in Poland, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the USA, Sweden and Brazil. His works were shown at an annual artistic salon in Sao Paulo, Brazil, including in 2013, where he received an honorable distinction at 1 Salao de Outono da America Latina. He was awarded a Honoris Gratia medal for his contributions to the cultural development of the city of Krakow, Poland. He is a member of “Arts-Sciences-Lettres” Societe Academique D’Education Et D’Encouragement in Paris, which honored him with a Medaille de Vermeil in it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
